Health Insurance


Health Insurance International students must have health insurance if they intend to stay in Turkey for more than a year. They must submit a formal request to the Provincial Directorate of Social Security in order to obtain general health insurance within three months of enrolling at the university. Turkey has a well-established health infrastructure with many doctors and dentists who speak foreign languages, especially in big hospitals. There are many hospitals that benefit from new technology. All hospitals have a 24-hour emergency service. Foreign students are required to have their own health insurance from the beginning of their education in Turkey. Students whose health insurance has expired are required to renew their insurance. For this reason, there are many places that provide health insurance in Istanbul. In cases of dual citizenship, health insurance is not required for international students with Turkish citizenship. The student may take advantage of services like travel insurance if their stay in Turkey is shorter than a year. Foreign health insurance covers many areas, such as diagnosis and treatment.
