Turkish Higher Education System
The Turkish education system is divided into three stages as 12-year compulsory education. These levels are organized as such:
Associate Degree: Associate Degree is the degree awarded after the completion of a two-year training program. It is known to be a path to many well-paid jobs and lucrative careers. It is a form of education designed to teach students the valuable skills they need to perform a particular task or job. An associate's degree usually provides hands-on training focused on a single area.
A Bachelor's Degree A Bachelor's Degree is earned after successful completion of a four-year program and 240 ECTS of study. While pharmacy, veterinary, and dentistry require five years of education, medical school is completed at the end of six years. A bachelor's degree can introduce you to new ideas during your education, increase your financial earning potential and give you access to new job opportunities.
Master's degree Master's degree programs are two-year programs leading to a Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Sciences (MS) degree at the end. There are two kinds of Master's programs, with or without a thesis. The Master's with a thesis program takes two years to complete and generally consists of a minimum of 120 ECTS. It requires the submission of a thesis before completion of the program. Non-thesis programs must be finished in one or one and a half years, and they require a term project in addition to courses totaling at least 90 credits. Students who graduate with a master’s degree should possess advanced knowledge of a specialized body of theoretical and applied topics, a high level of skills and techniques, and a range of transferable and professional skills gained through independent and highly focused learning and research.
The doctoral degree(PhD): The doctoral degree(PhD) program is a doctoral research degree and the highest level of academic qualification you can achieve. The degree normally takes between three and four years of full-time work towards a thesis offering an original contribution to your subject.
